National Citizen Service: 4 Week Programme - Week 2.

And once again do I forget to update! I'm sorry guys, I've been so busy preparing for college starting in Wednesday, I've completely forgotten! But now I'm back, so lets start :)

Week 2: Southampton University!

So second week we stayed in Southampton Solent University to have an idea of a 'student lifestyle'. Basically we got given a certain amount of money a day to budget for food for 14 people, other than that, we were free to roam around as we liked woo. But everyday we had to travel to Brockenhurst to do some sort of 'presentation skills' to give us a refresher on everything. Monday was definitely the most hectic day, we were at Brock for 8 hours as we lost 4 people from the course, due to violent outbursts and threatening behaviour. But it was alright, as it was a nice hot day as we just sat on the football pitch and played around with water pistols oh the joy. After 8 eventful hours, we finally endured to Asda to do our first budget shop, this was interesting to say the least. A herd of bright, Orange shirts running around aha. Beth & Tiff then cooked Tuna Pasta Bake for us, which was so so so nice mmm.

Tuesday consisted of yet another argument, which is not surprise, our group is just a hot mess when it comes to decisions. We had to do a presentation on 'Wildlife at Brock' to refresh on our presentation skills, considering a lot of us hadn't used them since before May. Then we just spent time lounging around until it was time to go to Asda to shop again woo. However, having to avoid Nat & Lewis around Asda with a water pistol wasn't fun. Me & Beth then ditched our group to get Mcflurries from McDonalds haha. After dinner, Greg had gotten Zombieland for us to watch, so a few of us stayed up to watch that until bed.

Wednesday was a good day, as no arguments happened woo! But anyway, we got given an hour lecture by a photographer and then we had a challenge of making a photo diary of Brockenhurst. Basically we took a few photos of the areas around Brock & then presented them back to another group, explaining why we took them. Then we had a BBQ for lunch which was great, as it was my only BBQ of the summer. After that my group lazed around for a couple of hours whilst the other 2 groups did their presentations, then we all went to Asda to do more shopping yay! My group thought it would be a good idea to try and get me to cook, which was stupid as somehow I managed to use the blunt edge of the knife to cut a tomato.. WTF Katie!? I'm useless at times. Then I went and played some pool with Tasha, Ellie, Meg, Amie, Oli & Nat, Lewis & Tiff joined us after that. I left the pool room early and walked back with Ben, who was so nice awh bless him. Then it was time for bed siggggh.

Thursday was our last full day on residential, which was sad as I loved residential, cos I got really bored throughout the weekend without anyone else there. Anyway, Thursday consisted of an early morning trip to Asda to get Lewis a cake & a card, as it was his 18th the Friday. Otherwise, we then continued to Brock to do a final presentation piece for the week. Me & a few others wandered into Brock to interview some locals about volunteer work. I then ended up getting involved in yet another water fight with Lewis & Nat, urgh boys. We were allowed to order takeaway as it was our last night at the Uni, so we got Pizza Hut ordered to us & it was the best decision we've ever made as a group. Then a few of us sat around outside talking, but then we came in to watch Ted with a few others.

Friday was our last day on the residential part, which made everyone quite sad. We celebrated Lewis' 18th at Brock, we gave him is cake and all sang happy birthday to him awh, adorable. But literally after that, we just spent the 8 hours doing nothing as there really was nothing to do, apart from laze around. So it was a nice end the residential part of the course :-)

National Citizen Service: 4 Week Programme - Week 1.

This post is long overdue and I am so terribly sorry about that...
So let's just get started!

From July 22nd to August 16th have been the best 4 weeks of my life! I have experienced many different things and made so many new friends it has actually been unreal. Definitely my highlight of the summer!

Week 1: Exeter!

The first week of the course was residential, so that meant a week away in Exeter with some amazing people! The only people I really knew where my group and the people from school on the course. We stayed in Exeter University Student Accommodation and it was absolutely lovely! The first week consisted of team building activities and getting to know each other. The first group activity was a high ropes course, for me this was absolutely terrifying. I have a major phobia of heights, but thankfully, my whole group supported me throughout & I've now (hopefully overcome my fear of heights yay!)

Tuesday consisted of Coasteering, which is basically, throwing yourself off of quite high cliffs! I completed 4/5 of the cliffs we did. So I'm beyond proud of myself! I almost had a slight panic attack at the 3rd cliff, but nonetheless, I gained the courage to actually push myself off. Then in the evening, we celebrated with a football match! I sat on the sidelines as I have a strong hate towards the game, haha. I also found out this day that wetsuits are not my friend and they only set out to injure me.

Wednesday consisted of Kayaking & Canoeing. It was definitely an enjoyable experience! I got to know Nat & Lewis a bit better throughout this activity, and they're both such nice lads awh. After we learnt how to Kayak, we took a turn at Canoeing; most definitely a lot easier than Kayaking! That really does test your upper body strength! Anyway, the Canoeing was great as half way through we decided to make this massive vessel, and the 4 heaviest had to actually paddle the boat, whereas the 4 lightest got to sit in the middle doing absolutely nothing. I pleastenly enjoyed that ;). I managed to make it the whole 4/5 hours without capsizing until: Lewis capsized the boat, Ben pushed me and the boat back in & Nat pushing me in once helping me out! grrrr. Then in the evening, we had a campfire at a local forest.

Thursday was our last full day in Exeter, so we spent it Surfing in Bude. We spent & an hour & a half travelling down to Cornwall with Group 4, to learn how to Surf. I've never been so excited in all my life because I've always wanted to learn how to surf, so given the chance, I lapped it up! It was pretty difficult at first, but otherwise it was definitely very enjoyable! To celebrate our last night in Exeter, we went back to the forest to have another campfire! This was such a lovely and friendly way to end our first week away together.

Friday was our last day in Exeter, which just really consisted of hanging around waiting to go home, which then we had to endure the most stressful 4 hours home in a cramped up mini bus. I'm telling you now, that was not fun!
But after our 4 hour journey home, mum decided to treat me to a cute little garden centre lunch :-)

So overall Week 1 was an absolute success! Even if I did make a few enemies along the way..

This wetsuit causes many a rash burns

The aftermath of mum's trainers..

I've decided to do a 3 part on this, otherwise it would just be a never ending essay & noone want to read that. So week 2 will appear in a couple of days time... Sorry it's taken me so long to update ahhhhh!

Until next time,

Social Gathering #1

This summer, I've decided I'm going to attend as many social events as I can. And each time I attend, I'm going to blog about it. So let's start of with the first social event of the summer, Steve's Hawaiian Party, last Saturday night.

It was an absolute success! So many of my close/good friends together in one area. Some of them I hadn't seen since Prom, so it was really nice. I drank so much that evening, the most I've ever drunk in my life.. Yet I didn't wake up with a hangover... wheeerry!
I do remember saying some twatish things to people, but ooopps, oh well.

In general, the party was just an absolute success & only one person threw up, so a very good 9/10!

My girls are the greatest

Lucy-Lu & I

Gregers & I

My gorgeous Tasha

A very drunken best friend

Benny Boy

Drunken Holz & Clo

I'm going to try and post as much as I can the next few days, as Monday I'm off to Cornwall with NCS, So I won't be able to blog whilst I'm away. It's a 4 week project, so I'll do a main post on it when I've come back on August 16th... I'll be able to post in the evenings & weekends of the 3rd & 4th week. So I'll be able to do my 'My Week Away Summer Essentials' on the 27/28th of this month.

Until next time,

Wish List

Everyone has their own little 'wish list' on products they would love to own, but yet don't currently have the money to afford. So here's a few things on my wishlist & I apologize for the use of stock photos...

Jack Wills Charcoal Gilet: I use to own a bodywarmer/gilet when I was younger & I was really sad when mine got thrown away. Then my friend had gotten a Jack Wills one as a present for her exam results & I absolutely adore it, so I just have to have my own.

Ray-Ban Ultra Aviator in Gold: Nearly everyone I've ever come in contact with either owns a pair of these, or wants a pair of these. I've needed a pair of decent sunglasses the last couple of years, as mine always get broken. So investing over £100 pounds for a pair of decent sunglasses, that I will get regular wear out of, seems fine.

Lauren Conrad 'Beauty': I absolutely idolize Lauren Conrad & I've been needing a book along these lines to add to my reading collection anyway. I've had my eye on this for a while, so now that I've been paid. I'm so purchasing this on Amazon.

Lauren Conrad 'Style': As previously mentioned, I've been needing something along these lines to read, so as it goes nice with her 'Beauty' book, I've decided I'm going to buy both, so neither of them will be lonely :)

Elizabeth Arden 'Eight Hour Nourishing Lip Balm': I've heard Tanya Burr talk about how good this is in quite a few of her YouTube videos, so I'm going to jump on the bandwagon and get one, especially as how £18 is quite reasonable for 14.8 ml.

M-A-C Lipstick in 'Saint Germain': Absolutely nearly every female beauty YouTuber has raved about one M-A-C lipstick or another. This intrigued me to have a look for myself & I found this colour and oh my god, it's so pretty.. literally, it's like to die for. I honestly cannot wait to purchase this ekkkkk!

Urban Decay 'Chill MakeUp Setting Spray': My makeup NEVER seems to stay in place for longer than 6 hours, which is so annoying as touching up makeup is a massive pain in the butt. I heard about this from a beauty YouTuber and nearly flipped out. Why have I never heard of this before!? So now, the next time I'm in town, I'm buying this bad boy.

Lush Homemade Cosmetics 'Popcorn Lip Scrub': I've seen people rave about Lush's bath products all over Instragram, being the nosey person that I am. I decided to snoop round Lush's website and I fell across Lip Scrubs. Now I've never used a Lip Scrub before in my life. So after reading the comments I've decided to add this to my wishlist, as I adore anything popcorny. I may also purchase the bubblegum one as well.

So there was a little look into my wishlist, if you have any recommendations for me, please leave a little comment below :) And again, I apologize for the use of stock photos.

Until next time,

- Katie. x
